drama drama drama...

so, I'm going to Carnegie Hall in April with the wind ensemble. HOORAY, right? right. only sometimes though. here's my story - we're having our first rehearsals this week, yesterday, tomorrow, and friday, just to get our music started, and then we'll really get into it in january. so I go into the band room yesterday and ask one of the girls where our illustrious (read: annoying and big-headed) section leader was. what does she say but "oh, didn't you hear? he's being deployed to iraq in february so he can't go, so you're our new section leader!" then they start passing out music and I'm supposed to be assigning parts to kids whose strengths I don't know and the good doctor starts to get mad that I'm trying to get info about them first...ay! he's like "can't you do this without talking?" ummm....no. not at all. I need to talk to them to talk to them, make sense? (I, of course, said none of this out loud, being vaguely smart-ish) anyway, so we got through the day ok, now I have CDs of the songs we're playing (super awesome, amazing songs) and I brought all the music home to assign parts to everyone...whose names I don't remember...oh well, I remember what they look like and what they do, we'll do good tomorrow. yay us! I'm done venting for now, I promise!

oh, and I thought I'd explain about the last post's title: "just because I have a red kitchen doesn't mean I'm a communist" - I was telling manly that I was going to put a picture of our awesome kitchen up somewhere and he (jokingly) said, "but you can't do that, people will think we're communist!" so...that title was just for him!
